The Pay Day Lust List - May

The Pay Day Lust List - May

The Pay Day Lust List - May by pinkparadisebeauty featuring a gold desk lamp
I cannot believe it's May this coming week already, does anyone else feel like the days, weeks and months are just flying by!? With that being said I've collected together a few of my April favourites which I shared over on my channel here, as well as a few items I've been lusting over right now as well...
1. Gold Desk Lamp - Target
For a few months I've been on the search for the perfect gold desk lamp for a chest of draws we have up in our bedroom. Usually these kind of lamps are more suited to office spaces, however I love dressing rooms with decor pieces that don't necessarily have to be placed in the room that they are meant for, if you get my drift! This one from Target is just what I've been looking for with regards to shape and style.

2. The Denim Jacket - New Look
If you've seen my latest fashion post here, then you'll know I'm loving the jumper dress for Spring. Last year I was also keen on the t-shirt dress too for the Summer months. But here in the UK it can get a bit nippy and so I've been after a light wash denim jacket to throw on over these kinds of dresses. I adore this version form New Look as it's oversized which means you could wear this just over the shoulders too.

3. Dandelion Twinkle - Benefit
I'm already a big fan of the Dandelion Dew liquid version that came out last year, but when I heard they were bringing out a highlighting powder version, I knew this had to go straight on my Pinterest Wishlist asap!

4. Trinket Dish - Oliver Bonas
Throughout the house I have many versions of the 'trinket dish' scattered around that I use to store everything from jewellery to essential oils and hand cream to cuticle oil. But surely one more trinket dish wouldn't hurt, right?!...

5. Succulent Wall Art - Etsy
Palm tree's and succulents are hot right now, especially in the form of anything homeware related. I've recently been doing up a new office space and I'm addicted to searching out these beautiful prints from Etsy to decorate the office with. I adore this one especially because of it's pretty pink background.

6. Makeup Sponges - Eco Tools
I'm all for trying out new and affordable make-up sponges and recently I spotted this vibrant duo from Eco Tools in Superdrug. I've never actually tried anything from the brand before and so I'm keen to put these to the test...

Maybelline Baby Lips Crayon Review & Photo's

Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon
As you know Maybelline is one of my favourite drugstore brands as not only do they come out with some amazing launches, they also have the cutest packaging! The Baby Lips balms are always something I can't seem to get enough of and the colours, scent and the packaging win me over every time. This year Baby Lips expanded their line with the launch of the Color Balm Crayon*, which is very similar to the popular Clinique Chubby Sticks. So here are my thoughts...
Price
The crayon retails for £5.99 and comes in six mouth-watering shades including,
05 Candy Red
10 Sugary Orange
15 Strawberry Pop
20 Pink Crush
25 Playful Purple
30 Creamy Caramel

If you're in the US there are eight shades to choose from that all come in silver packaging and include,
05 Toasted Taupe
10 Blush Burst
15 Strawberry Pop
20 Creamy Coral
25 Refreshing Red
30 Sassy Scarlet
35 Pink Smooch
40 Playful Purple
Packaging
The packaging is cute, fun and colourful and fits in perfectly with the Baby Lips line. The only difference with these is they come in a chubby crayon with a twist up top.
Application
These apply so smoothly onto the lips and the crayon is also a great size for ease of application. The shades are pretty pigmented for a balm, but you can also smudge them out to more of a stain if you prefer. All of the shades are scented and have a glossy finish to them. I adore the smell of Strawberry Pop as it actually smells like Watermelon gum!
Longevity
These don't last all day so re-application is needed, however because of the added moisturising oils they don't dry out the lips, which is always a bonus.

Overall Thoughts
Just like the original balms, I adore these as they are such a lovely addition to anyone's Spring and Summer lip wardrobe. Each shade is beautifully pigmented and moisturising, which makes them the perfect travel-friendly balm also. My personal favourite is Creamy Caramel as it's such a great everyday shade to pop in your bag when you're on the go, but I also love the fact that there is a great selection of brights shades to choose from, that are versatile too.

So overall if you're a Baby Lips fan then these already have your name on them, but if you're a girl on the go and you love a pop of colour on the lips, that's easy to apply and fuss-free, then I definitely recommend giving one of these a try for the up and coming seasons.

I award the Maybelline Baby Lips Crayon a 4.6 out of 5

Primark Straightener & Curler in 1?! Review & Photos

Primark 2 in 1 Straightener & Curler

No this is not a drill, Primark really are selling straightening irons now! But stop, these are not just any kind of straighteners, they actually double up as a curler too, so naturally I had to put them to the test for you guys and here's my thoughts...
Price
The 2 in 1 Straighten and Curl Wand retails for a ridiculously affordable £10. There is also a mini straightener and seperate curling wand available too.
Packaging
Packaging wise this comes in a rather appealing black and copper box, complete with instruction manual. The actual iron is pretty well made and again is coated in black and gold/copper accents.

On the box it states that the iron has ceramic coated plates, an on/off switch, a lockable handle and a swivel cord. It also heats up to 180ºC.
Application
To use the straighteners all you do is plug them in, turn the switch on, wait a few minutes for them to heat up and then curl or straighten as desired. A red light will also indicate when they are on, but do be careful where you lay them as they do heat up pretty quickly.
I actually tested these out on one side of my head and on the other I used my trusty GHD's and Yogi Curling Wand. I had just washed my hair and roughly blow dried it, so you could see how my hair looked naturally, however I do recommend you watch my demo in the video linked above as you can see how they work better live.

Firstly I went in with the straighteners and the results were pretty impressive! I honestly couldn't tell the difference as they smoothed out my hair quickly and efficiently.

The only thing I would say is, because the plates go all the way round the wand, I would just be extra careful when using the iron towards the front of your face. Therefore I recommend just straightening upwards and out so your not going down near your face (you'll see what I mean in the demo). Also be sure to rest these on a towel or heat mat if you have one.
Next I went in with my favourite curlers on the side I used my GHD's with and then on the other I used the Primer version. To curl, all you do is lock the iron so that it forms the round barrel.

I divided my hair up and picked up small sections of hair to curl, but do whatever you're used to doing when curling your own hair.
Again, I couldn't believe how nice the curls came out, the barrel gives you the most beautiful big, beachy waves.
Longevity
Because of my squeaky clean hair the curls didn't last all day and so I did re-do them towards the end of the day, only this time I sealed them in with some hairspray too and this seemed to do the trick. As we all know curls do work better with slightly dirtier hair, but if you do have clean hair, then hairspray always helps to lock in the curls and I'm now on Day 3 of softer waves.
Overall Thoughts
Yes Primark you did it again! Gosh where do I start... Firstly this is such a great price point and the fact that you get a straightener and curler in one is amazing value for money. It's also accessible to anyone and everyone which makes it that little bit more appealing, as who doesn't love to pick up an instant steal!

Performance wise I have to say I was impressed when comparing it to my regular hair tools as it actually did a pretty great job at both straightening and curling my hair, just make sure when straightening that you pull the tool away from your face.

Overall I adore my GHD's and these are certainly not a replacement for them, however for the price, the Primark version are worth picking up if not just for a back up or to have as a handy travel pair.

I award the Primark 2 in 1 Straighten and Curl Iron a 4.5 out of 5
