My Full Foundation Routine featuring Chanel, Nars & MAC

1. Benefit The Porefessional - I use this around my nose, forehead and lips with my fingers to cover pores and make my lipstick last longer.

2. Urban Decay Primer Potion Original - I apply to the eyelids and under the eye.

3. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B20 - Make sure you shake this well, I then apply a pea sized amount to the back of my hand and take Brush 1 to buff the product into the skin. I wet Sponge 2 and pat over the skin to finish the foundation off and give a flawless finish.

4. Ben Nye Concealer Wheel - This is applied around the eyes and under the brow bone with my finger.

5. YSL Touche Eclat - I use my ring finger to pat this into a V shape around the eyes.

6. Mac Mineralize Skinfinsh Natural in Medium Dark - With Brush 3 I apply this all over the face to set my Foundation. I use Brush 6 to blend out everything evenly.

7. Nars Laguna Bronzer - Brush 4 is used to contour the bronzer around the face and Brush 5 is used to take the bronzer down onto the neck and décolleté.

8. Mac Blush in Peony Petal - I take this blush onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the top of the ear using Brush 7, this is then blended out with Brush 6.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Review & Photos - Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Dupe

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation VS Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

If you don't already know Bourjois make-up is apparently the baby sister to Chanel make-up and I had heard through the grapevine that Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation has been compared to the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

The Chanel Foundation comes in at a pinch of £33 for 30ml whereas the Bourjois Healthy Mix is a steal at only £9.99 for 30ml.
I am a big fan of my Chanel Vitalumiere but this is more of my weekend or special occasion foundation as it's expensive and so I was eager to try this Bourjois dupe if it meant I saved myself £23! So here are my thoughts.

The Bourjois Healthy Mix is described on the bottle as 'Up to 16hr perfectly glowing complexion & Toned skin' with 'Fruit Therapy & Radiance - boosting' and contains,
'Apricot - radiance'
'Melon - hydration'
'Apple - anti-oxidant'
'Ginger - energy'

Packaging
Bourjois - The foundation comes in a sleek plastic bottle, with a hygienic pump and a lid, it contains 30ml of product.

Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua contains 30ml too but does not have a pump applicator.

Texture
Bourjois - It has a thick creamy texture and felt smooth to apply. It also didn't feel like I had anything on as it felt so lightweight.

Chanel - This was a little more liquid in texture, a thinner consistency, so you do have to shake it well before use. This felt cool on the skin.

Coverage
Bourjois - This covered most of my redness that I had on my nose and chin but I would say this is not a full coverage foundation it's more of a medium coverage instead.

Chanel - It covered pretty well considering it is more of a tinted moisturiser and it gave a flawless finish to my face.
Bourjois Above
Application
Bourjois - I applied two pumps to my whole face and down my neck using a Real Techniques Buffing Brush, I then took a damp Mac Pro Sponge and blotted the skin with this to make sure all the foundation had blended in well.

Chanel - This doesn't come in a pump, so you have to be careful to squeeze out a tiny amount as it is runny and as per above make sure you shake it well. I used the same application technique as the Bourjois above which works well.

Longevity
Bourjois - This lasted me from 9am to 11pm at night, it was a humid day and I went about my daily routine with no problems at all. The foundation hadn't budged and still looked as flawless as it was when I applied it in the morning.

Chanel - This lasted just as good as the Bourjois, I still had good flawless coverage by 4pm and by 9pm it still looked as fresh as it did when I applied it in the morning.
Price
Bourjois - This is a steal at £9.99 but I would say it is at the top end of the drugstore market as it's still a little pricey for a high street brand.

Chanel - Vitalumiere comes in at a wapping £33 for the same amount as the Bourjois, this is a pricey foundation but for a premium make-up brand, it's to be expected.

Final Thoughts
Overall I cannot see much difference between both foundations; they are just as good as each other and are truly great products in their own right. I personally love both of them equally, but if I had to call it, the Chanel Vitalumiere would be my 1st preference because of its luxurious and cooling feel on the skin. And If you wanted both, Bourjois Healthy Mix is a more everyday foundation and Chanel can be used of a weekend or as a going out foundation.

So if you are looking for a light feeling foundation, but you are not willing to pay the high price tag for the Chanel one, then the Bourjois Healthy Mix will work just as well.

I award the Bourjois Healthy Mix - 4.7 out of 5 and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua 4.9 out of 5

NPCOTW - Nail Polish Colour of the Week featuring Barry M & Nails Inc.

I have been searching for the perfect pastel peach shade until I found the affordable drugstore brand Barry M had one that was just right in the name of Peach Melba. I thought this looked so pretty teamed with Nails Inc. Warwick Street on the ring finger.

I just love this combo and that's why it deserves to be my Nail Polish Colour of the Week.

DIY Body Exfoliator

Exfoliation is great for getting rid of dead skin cells on the body, enhancing your tan and giving you that all around glow to the skin. Really we should exfoliate twice a week to remove any unwanted dry skin.

Personally I can never find a body exfoliator that does the job really well, instead I make my own DIY exfoliator with a few store cupboard essentials, which makes my skin feel silky soft.

You will need:

1. One tbsp. of Coconut Oil
2. Five tbsps. of Sugar
3. Two tsps. of Honey

Mix this all together to form a paste and take into the shower and scrub away! This recipe usually does me two full body scrubs.

(Note: A patch test is recommended if you have sensitive or allergy prone skin)

August Beauty Favourites 2012 featuring Soap and Glory and Real Techniques

 1. Soap & Glory the Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser
I bought this Soap & Glory cleanser as I had run out of my usual Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and thought I would give this drugstore cleanser a try as the concept seemed pretty similar. This is an amazing produce, it smells divine and fresh and is so thick and creamy and it removes all my make-up  and comes with a muslin cloth to wipe the day away with.
A full review of this product will be coming soon.
2. Essie Bikini So Teeny
Essie are fast becoming my favourite brand as they bring out such beautiful unique colours and Bikini So Teeny proves this, all I can say is stunning colour!
3. Urban Decay NYC Palette
This is a product I have mentioned so many times before, I just love it as it has a broad spectrum of colours in one palette, plus 2x Urban Decay 24/7 pencils and a mini Primer Potion, I just love the endless eye looks I can do with this palette.
4. Models Own Ibiza Mix
I love this polish for toping of my neon nails; it is a disco in a bottle.
5. Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Stippling Brush
This brush is fast becoming one my top brushes for applying foundation, it blends the product in well, giving you a flawless finish and is a small brush for getting in the nooks & cranny's.
