Drugstore VS High End Foundations

Drugstore VS High End Foundation
When it comes to foundations it can become a mind field to find the right one for you and then there's the price bracket, I've tested a few over the years and have become familiar with the ones I love and the ones I'm not so keen on, some are drugstore and some are high end, but where do you even start and how do you know if the more pricey foundations are even worth the money.

If your a girl on a budget or money is no object when it comes to makeup, then hopefully this will help you decide on where to start in the foundation vortex!

I'm blogging everyday in November so don't forget to subscribe for daily doses! :)
Drugstore Foundations
Let's start with the more affordable drugstore options, if you are on a budget or simply prefer drugstore brands then these could be for you.

1. Revlon Photoready - This is well known within the beauty community but it is a bit like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. This is know as the drugstore dupe for Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, it is a little more shimmery than the HD one but gives a beautiful sheen to the face and has a medium coverage that's buildable. This retails for £12.99 and is great for normal skin types.

2. Bourjois Healthy Mix - I did a review on this a couple of years back as it's very comparable to Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (Fun Fact - Bourjois actually own Chanel), this is a beautiful lightly whipped foundation and leaves a lovely dewy glow. It comes in 8 shades and retails at £9.99, also try the serum version if you want something even more hydrating.

3. Revlon Colorstay - This foundation is a popular classic from Revlon as it is full coverage and comes in normal/dry and combination/oily formula. If your after a full coverage long wearing foundation with a flawless finish than this could be for you. It retails for £12.49 and comes in 9 shades.

4. Rimmel Match Perfection - This is an amazingly affordable foundation at £6.99 and comes in 10 shades. It has an SPF of 18 and is great if your after a glowing, dewy finish. It feels really light weight and looks like your skin but better.

High End Foundations
If your after something more luxurious or want a foundation for a special occasion, then maybe one of these might be up your alley!

1. Bare Minerals BARESKIN - This is very new to the high end market and if you after something that's more than just a foundation, this has a serum incorporated within this mineral based formula. It has a super thin consistency and is very light and moisturising on t he face. If your more a fan of a powder formula then make sure you check out the original version, this is my favourite of the two and gives a gorgeous glow to the skin without feeling heavy. Bareskin retails for £26 and the Original is £25.

2. YSL Touche Éclat Foundation - This is at the higher end of the luxury foundations and is priced at £30.50. It is a lightweight, radiance complexion enhancing formula and if your a fan of the classic Touche Éclat and prefer dewy glowing skin then this is perfect for you.

3. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua - One of my all times favourites, it has a hydrating, dewy consistency that feels lightweight on the skin. It has an SPF of 15 and retails at £33, has great coverage and again makes your skin look natural but better. Chanel have a great selection of foundations if you want to try something that is super luxurious and good quality.

4. Make Up For Ever HD Foundation - Make Up For Ever HD has a cult following and is priced at around the £30 mark. This is a popular choice as it covers amazingly well and gives a stunning dewy finish that feels lightweight on the skin. This has an impressive shade range of 25 colours to suit any skin, it's oil free and long wearing, defiantly a girls best friend.

For me foundations have come a long way and are way more advanced offering many sellable qualities to entice you in. If you are a foundation novice or stuck in a vortex then my advice is to think about what your looking for in a foundation, pick one you like the look of and read the reviews, most have a review or rating on them these days.

On the topic of Drugstore VS High End, if you can afford to splurge then opt for one of the high end picks, I use my luxury foundation at the weekend and on a special occasion and they are some of my favourites. But if you are on a budget and simply can't afford to part with a £25 plus then the drugstore options are just as good, my advice would be to invest in a good quality make-up brush or a Beauty Blender and setting spray, it can make the world of difference.

What are your thoughts on High End and Drugstore, what are your favourites, I'd love to know??

YSL Touche Eclat Foundation First Impression, Review and Photo's

I finally got my hands on the newest edition to the Touché Éclat family as for years I had used the  Highlighter Pen and had always been a big fan of this, so I was excited to know that YSL had created a Foundation to complement this.
The foundation claims to conceal, illuminate and give a radiant glow to the skin.
Here's my first Impression on the YSL Touche Eclat Foundation.
Price
This retails for £30.50 which is defiantly pricey but this is a premium brand and I think this is what you would expect to pay if your looking for a high end foundation.
This has a great selection of 22 shades to suit light right through to dark skin tones.
Packaging
This comes in a gorgeous gold box and the bottle itself is glass and contains 30ml of product, it also has a hygienic pump dispenser and a beautiful gold lid.
 Application
This had a medium consistency and I used about three pumps to get the coverage I needed, I applied it with a flat foundation brush and a damp make-up sponge, the colour was buildable and covered my redness and blemishes well, I also had a beautiful glow after application.
Longevity
This lasted pretty well from 10.30am till 9pm at night, I lost most of the radiant glow towards the late evening and some of my redness and pimples became exposed, so I would defiantly advise using a good primer, concealer and setting spray to get the most from this foundation.
Overall Thoughts
Overall I loved this foundation, it did exactly what it said to illuminate, conceal and give a radiant glow, this is a beautiful packaged luxurious Foundation, perfect for Brides or anyone who wants their skin to oose radiance. I personally will only use this at the weekend and special occasions because of the hefty price tag, I would also purchase a slightly darker shade for the Summer too.
As I mentioned above a primer, concealer and setting spray is needed to get the best longevity from the Touché Éclat.

I award the YSL Touché Éclat Foundation a 4 out of 5
