Makeup Revolution Banana Powder 

I think it's safe to say the Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder resembles the ever-popular Ben Nye Banana Powder*. So what is banana powder makeup exactly used for I hear you say? Well, this is actually a makeup artist secret that is not so secret anymore! This yellow powder is used to set or 'bake' mainly the under eyes and anywhere where you would normally apply your concealer. It's especially popular for the under eyes because of it's yellow tone that can help brighten too.

Price
The Makeup Revolution Banana Powder retails for a super affordable £5 for 42g of product. The powder is available from Superdrug in stores, tambeauty.com and Ulta* in the US.

Packaging
The packaging is super simple and almost identical to the Ben Nye version, even down to the sieve applicator.

Application
Because this is a loose powder I would advise using the lid to tap some of the product into or the back of your hand as this does get a little messy.

Upon application, the powder has a thick and silky consistency to it and can be used one of two ways,

BAKING - As I mentioned above you can use this to bake and contour with using a damp makeup sponge.  If you're not familiar with baking I will link a how-to video here.

LIGHT DUSTING - You can also use this with a brush to lightly dust over the face to mattify and set your concealer too.

I experimented with both application methods and I have to say because this is a heavy powder I preferred using this with a brush to lightly dust over the face as I found baking under the eye too heavy for me personally. Also, it's worth noting that if you have dry skin, this may not be the best powder for you.

Longevity
I wouldn't say this stayed matte all day for me and so I would advise touching up if you want to stay matte throughout the day and right into the evening.

Overall Thoughts 
I have to say I did love the luxury feel of the powder and it really did help mattify my face after foundation and concealer. I also like the fact that along with my concealer this did help mask my dark circles and redness, however, I don't think this did much in the way of overly brightening my complexion.

As I mentioned above because of the consistency of this powder I much prefer using this to lightly set my face as I found this creased under my eyes slightly if I used too much of the product.

Overall I think this powder is a wonderful dupe for the Ben Nye version, plus its amazing value for money for how much you get in the pot, although I do think this is best suited to anyone who loves a full coverage face and is a fan of baking.

Yes Primark are back at it again with a new addition to their make-up line. This time we're talking about Work Out Make-up that is designed to be both sweat proof and water resistant. It's also, as the name suggests perfect for you to wear to the gym if you're not brave enough to step out bare faced.

Now being an avid gym bunny and running enthusiast myself I thought it was only appropriate I put this make-up line to the test, so here's my thoughts...

Price
The collection is made up of face, eye and lip products that are of course, budget friendly and widely accessible. I picked up a Face Powder, Eye Liner Pencil and Mascara, but here's the full list of products available within stores,

Packaging
I absolutely loved the eye-catching names and chic, black packaging, and actually this is what initially sold this to me, when I first caught sight of it.

No Sweat, Sweat Resistant Mattifying Face Powder - Despite this coming in only two shades, the compact is a decent size with a handy mirror too.

Finish Line Water Resistant Eye Liner - I loved the look of this pencil as it also came with a handy pencil sharpener on the other end.

Splash Proof Waterproof Mascara - This mascara came in a tube which I did quite like, as it was a little more unqiue compared to your regular drugstore mascara. The brush itself was slightly chunky and curved, but in all honesty this for me looked like a very synthetic, cheap looking wand.

Application
No Sweat, Sweat Resistant Mattifying Face Powder - I applied this down my T-Zone and under my eyes to set my concealer. Upon application this wasn't the perfect colour match but it did appear mattifying as the name suggested.

Finish Line Water Resistant Eye Liner - For me this looked as though is was going to be a super pigmented black liner, but unfortunately this didn't give off much colour at all and I would say it was more of a grey than a black. Upon application this didn't glide on the best and it was actually quite uncomfortable when I used it on the waterline.

Splash Proof Waterproof Mascara - Despite the brush looking cheap, I actually found this to be an ok mascara. I curled my lashes initially and then applied two coats on the top and one to the bottom. The overall result was not bad and the wand did help lengthen and separate my lashes too.

Longevity

To put these products to the ultimate test, I went for an hour long run. When I got back again everything was still on which was good, although the powder had oxidised on my cheeks and around my nose and I was left with a bit of a weird line.

The liner and mascara actually held up quite well with only the liner disappearing slightly from the waterline.

Overall Thoughts

Overall this wasn't the best line of products from Primark and considering the price points I wasn't expecting these to be anyway. However I did love the concept of this as a whole and Primark really do continue to impress me with how quick they are at picking up and re-producing some of the hottest trends, at affordable prices. So if I was you I would save your money on this one and spend it on any of the other fantastic products this pretty amazing shop has to offer.

I award the No Sweat Powder a 2 out of 5, the Finish Line Eye Pencil a 2 out of 5 and the Splash Proof Mascara a 3 out of 5.

Today I wanted to continue with my drugstore products worth buying series by sharing with you my top 5 staples from Rimmel that I think are worth buying. 2. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - This powder is amazing for keeping shininess at bay all day. I adore this as it's finely milled and is super affordable too!

3. Rimmel Scandel Eyes, Soft Kohl and Exaggerate Eye Liners - I do love a good coloured eye liner once in a while and some of my favourite drugstore liners are from Rimmel. Both the Scandal Eyes and Exaggerate pencils come in a great selection of colours to choose from and the best part is they are waterproof and long wearing too.

4. Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara - Lengthening is one of the first things I look for in a mascara and this certainly does that. I really enjoying teaming this with a volumizing mascara if I'm in the mood for a more fuller false lash effect or alone if I just want a natural look, but I still desire the length.

5. Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick in Naughty Nude - Now if your after a dupe for MAC Brave then look no further! Not only is this virtually identical to the MAC version. it's super pigmented, half the price and it's also moisturising on the lips too.

Rimmel Match Perfection Silky Loose Face Powder

Concealer has become a bit of an obsession of mine, but as we all know it does need to be set pretty quickly to prevent creasing and to maximise the wear time. Now most powders that I own unfortunately don't cut the mustard in providing what I need to help with my concealer concerns and so I recently switched to this loose powder from Rimmel, which is more suited to what I need it for, so here are my thoughts...

Price

This retails for £6.99 for 10g of product and comes in the translucent shade only.

Packaging
The packaging is clear and simple and represents the Match Perfection line with it's bright blue top. It also has a second top inside which prevents too much product coming out, but I would still be careful when opening the blue lid as it can get a bit messy regardless of the 2nd lid inside.

This is also comes with a small, thin powder puff too, but I do think a brush is better suited for applying this kind of powder.

Application
This has the most beautiful silky texture and applies like a dream because of it's finely milled consistency. I applied this with a small contour brush to the areas I had concealed and it instantly set my concealer without creasing, as well as helping mattify the shine on my t-zone area from the foundation I had applied. I also found a little goes a long way, so less is more in this case.

Longevity
This latest really well, for a good 13+ hours to be precise, which was amazing! And by the end of the night I really didn't look shiny at all, even after a long day.

Overall Thoughts
Overall this powder was wonderful at helping me stay shine free, non cakey and flawless all day long. This is also a great affordable drugstore powder that's perfect for anyone who suffers with oily skin or who is searching for an inexpensive dupe for the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder to set their concealer with.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder Review and Photos

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

A good face powder has become an essential part of my makeup routine, as it keeps me shine free and helps set my foundation, making it last all day. One of my favourite powders is MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light Plus, but as you know I'm all for finding an affordable drugstore alternative. I had heard good things about the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder not only because of it's great formula, but also for it's amazing affordability factor, so here's my thoughts.

Price

This retails for £3.99 for 14g of product, it also comes in six shades and claims to stay matte for up to 5 hours.

 

Packaging

Rimmel Stay Matte is very simply packaged and clearly states exactly what it does. The powder itself has a pleasant smell and is etched with the Rimmel logo, which is a nice touch.

 

Application

I used a Royal & Langnickel Large Powder brush to apply this mostly to the t-zone area. Upon application the powder is easy to apply and doesn't have tons of fallout, it also gives a nice, matte, flawless finish.

 

Longevity

I wore this for a total of over 9 hours and as I mentioned above on the packaging this claims to stay matte for up to 5 hours and it certainly did. By 2pm my face was still matte, even after a sweaty workout at the gym and by 9am there was still no change, I just had a slight sheen to my forehead, but the powder still looked good well over five hours later.

 

Overall Thoughts

Overall for me this is an amazing drugstore face powder that is phenomenal value for money, it did exactly what it said on the packaging and has impressive longevity. So if your after a pressed powder, that keeps you matte all day and doesn't break the bank, Rimmel Stay Matte is defiantly worth a look.
