June Favourites 2016 - Bronzing, Cushion Foundations and Dry Skin Saviours

June Beauty Favourites 2016

I haven't done a favourites in a while now, but this month there's been quite a few bits that I've really taken a shine to and it's safe to say there's defiantly a Summer theme throughout, so here's a round up of everything bronzed, cushioned and nude.



Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser

1. Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser
Ever since I got back of holiday in May, I've been on the hunt for a day moisturiser to intensely hydrate my body, as my skin has been extremely dry after being zapped from the strong rays and humidity in Mexico.

I had heard a few things about this particular moisturiser from Nivea and this certainly did tick all my boxes when it came to hydration. This light moisturiser keeps my skin looking and feeling soft as well as deeply hydrating my the body thanks to the almond oil, but I do advise waiting a bit before you get dressed, as it can be a little slippery because of the almond oil extract.

2. Revolution Radiance Lights Palette
I reviewed this a few months back and I absolutely fell in love with it! If your not into a full on strobing highlighter but you still want a bit of a glow, then this may be right up your street as not only is this trio superb value for money, the quality of these is on par with many high end highlighters. I've been loving the first two shades mixed together to set my under eye concealer as it doesn't crease and it gives my skin the most beautiful subtle, ethereal glow!

3. MAC Hue Lipstick
Nude Lips have been my Summer staple as they just go with any bronzed or golden make-up look. One of my favourite nude lipsticks I go to time and time again is MAC Hue as it's just the perfect light pink nude that looks gorgeous teamed with a nude pink gloss too.

Ever since I reviewed this genius cushion formula, I've been obsessed with it. Having never tried any foundations from L'Oreal before, this caught my eye purely because of the gorgeous packaging, but besides from that this foundation gives the most beautiful dewy, lightweight glow, just like it says on the packaging and it lasts too!

Clinque Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

5. Clinque Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer
Speaking of foundations, I also have a high end favourite too in the form of the new Beyond Perfecting Foundation from Clinque. Matte foundations have never been my thing, but this one has changed my mind for sure, as it gives the most amazing flawless coverage, it's a great 2 in 1 and it comes with a neat applicator too.

L'Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil

Another L'Oreal favourite has been this Glam Bronzer that also comes in a cushion formula. I've been wearing this a ton lately, as it blends a lot easier than a powder, it's also matte and totally not orange at all, considering it only comes in one shade.

Benefit Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer

7. Benefit Dew the Hoola
Staying along the lines of bronzers I have a high end favourite too. When I reviewed this I confessed I'd never actually tried the original Benefit Hoola Bronzer and so I really didn't know what to expect from this, but thankfully I loved it! First of all the packaging is possibly my favourite packaging of all time, Benefit really have stepped up their packaging game lately! Secondly this bronzer is again, non-orange, matte and blends in beautifully, it's also buildable too.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL

8. La Roche Posay Anthelios XL
This is the only moisturiser I use in the day now, as it's a lovely light fluid which is perfect for the day time and of course it has an SPF of 50+ which is amazing.

Tanya Burr Afternoon Tea

9. Tanya Burr Afternoon Tea Lip Gloss
I adore this lip gloss as it's the most perfect nude pink shade. I also love teaming this with a nude lipstick like MAC Hue as they really are the perfect partners.

February Favourites 2016

Well February defiantly went by quick, even with the extra day this year! But although February has been and gone, there was for sure some firm favourites for me this month. So here's my round up of everything I've been loving in February 2016.

Milani Baked Blush

I've never really delved into the world of drugstore blushes, but just recently, they have been my only blush of choice, especially the Milani ones. I have been particularly loving Dolce Pink and Rose D'Oro form the Baked Blush range as these beautiful shades, give the most stunning glow to the cheeks and plus they last all day too.

I recently re-kindled my love for nude lips and found the perfect trio while delving through my makeup collection. I've been over lining my lips with MAC Subculture, then applying MAC Hue all over the top, then to finish, I have been applying Tanya Burr Afternoon Tea in the centre of the lips.

Thanks to Nikkie Tutorials, this has been my only face primer of choice for February. This genius product has glycerine in which helps your make-up stick and last all day. I've also found this works even better when using this in replace of a day moisturiser too.

It's been all about the chocolate eye looks for me in February. I love brown eye products in particular as they make my green eyes pop more. My favourite combo has been Milani Bella Bronze, blended out all over the lid and under the eye and Maybelline Gel Liner in Brown on the lash and waterline.

Another firm favourite and recent discovery, is this drugstore bronzer from Physicians Formula. The reason why I've fallen in love with this is because, it looks natural, matte and non orange.

Revlon Colorstay

Because of the colder months, I've been opting for a more full coverage foundation and this old favourite from Revlon has been the best at helping my skin look flawless, even through the bad skin days!

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
Another old favourite is this cleanser from Liz Earle. It really is amazing at soothing your skin, taking off make-up and leaving my skin with a beautiful glow every time I use it. I really don't know how I lived without this!

Nivea Men Post Shave Balm Primer Review and Photos

Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm

You may have already seen this Nivea Men Post Shave Balm trending around the beauty community and that's thanks to the lovely Nikkie Tutorials on YouTube. She actually found this by fluke in her boyfriends cupboard as she forgot to bring her regular moisturiser, so she thought why not give it a go. It actually turns out that this is one of the best beauty secrets to be discovered in a long time due to the essential ingredient in this shave balm, called glycerine. Glycerine is a great sticking agent and because of this it help's your make-up adhere to your face better. Of course I had to put this unusual primer to the test, so here's my thoughts.

Price
This retails for £5.29 for 100ml which is great value for money.

Packaging
The packaging is simple, non-fussy, clear and masculine, which is reminiscent of the whole Nivea for Men line. The actual bottle itself is glass and has a pour method application to it.

Application
Upon application the consistency is like a serum and you really only need a tiny bit as a little goes along way. The trick is to rub it in really well until the balm feels tacky to touch, then you know your ready to start applying your make-up.

As this is designed for men after they shave it feels lovely and light on the skin and sinks in beautifully. The smell of course is masculine, but this only lingers for a minute or two.

My make-up applied beautifully over the top of the balm, but initially it didn't look any different to what it usually does when I use either the Benefit Porefessional or Maybelline Baby Skin as a primer.

Longevity
Although my make-up didn't look any different to what it usually does, the longevity for me was the selling point, I was amazed at how well my make-up stayed all day and all night. My blusher is usually the first thing to wear, but this stayed in tact and overall my whole face looked exactly the same as to when I had applied it in the morning!

This balm would actually be ideal if your going on a night out or getting married and you want fool proof make-up to see you through. But like with all products I recommend you test them out before hand, so that you know if their going to be right for your skin type or not.

Overall Thoughts

This for me is one of the best primers I have ever tried, I couldn't believe how well my make-up stayed and the fact this is only £5.29 for 100ml, makes it one of the most affordable beauty hacks to be discovered in a long time. So if your after an affordable primer alternative to all those fancy primers and setting sprays, that's also gentle on the skin, then this may just be your best kept secret for bullet proof make-up!

When I have the time I love a good pamper especially now I'm on Wedding countdown. Every Sunday I've been trying to get into a Facial routine where I set aside time to give my face a real good nourishing pamper. If you've been following me for a while now you'll know that Elemis is one of my favourite skincare brands, yes they are pricey but I always get results from them and facials can be pricey at a spa so I thought I would share with you my at home facial routine that you can use with your current skincare favourites to create an affordable at home spa facial. Nivea 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water

Step 1 - Remove Eye Make-Up
I really love the drugstore versions of Bioderma as they are great for taking my eye make-up off. I'm currently using this one from Nivea which does the job perfectly.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

Step 2 - Remove Face Make-Up
Simple wipes have been my favourite way to take off my face make-up for ages now, they are just great at getting the initial layer off.

MAC Cleanse Off Oil - Tranquil

Step 3 - Pre-Cleanse
I had been previously using this to take just my eye make-up off and although it did the job well, it made me have really oily, gooey eyes the next morning, so I decided to use it for it's intended use as a make-up removing cleanser for the face as well as the eyes and I love it even more now.

Elemis Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser

Step 4 - Deep Cleanse
A good cream cleanser helps get rid of any remaining make-up and deep cleanses the face, I sometimes do a double cleanse in my normal routine as it gives your skin a great boost.

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel



Step 5 - Exfoliate



If your not into grainy textures or have sensitive skin, then this is perfect for you, you apply this like a mask leave it on for 10 minutes and wipe it off to reveal glowing, exfoliated skin.

 

Step 6 - Steam

I use this steamer I found in Sally's but you can get them from Amazon at a more affordable price. These are a great addition to a home facial as they help draw out any impurities and nasty's from your skin.

 

Glamglow Youthmud

Step 7 - Mask

A mask is an essential part of any facial to again help draw out any toxins and reveal glowing skin. My current favourite has been the Glamglow Youthmud, this really is an incredible deep cleansing, luxury face mask.

 

Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner

Step 8 - Tone

A toner can help revitalise and brighten the skin, an alcohol-free one is best, but the toning step is not always necessary if you don't already do this step in your normal skincare routine.



Elemis - Pro-Collagen Marine Cream

Step 9 - Moisturise

Finishing off with a luxury moisturiser is my favourite part of a facial and as you may know this is my favourite cream as it feels amazing and light and improves my skins texture.

 

The Body Shop Wild Argan oil Lip Balm

Step 10 - Lip Balm

This is an extra step I like to add in to finishes off the facial as the lips can be dehydrated after. You could also finish off with an eye cream or lash serum as well.
