5 BEST DRUGSTORE FACE TONERS UNDER £10 FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

Top 5 Drugstore Toners UK
I absolutely love a good facial toner for not only balancing out my skin but also for hydrating, refreshing and sometimes setting my makeup. For me, a toner has multiple uses and there are so many great ones out there that are also affordable, that's why I thought I'd share with you my favourite five that are all under £10.
PRODUCTS MENTIONED:
1. Superdrug Vitamin E Hydrating Mist - This one is an oldie but a goodie and an absolute steal at only £2.99 for a 150ml. I actually really like this first of all because it has a spray applicator which is my favourite way to apply my toner because of the convenience factor but second of all because as the name suggests this is so hydrating. My favourite way to apply this is after I've cleansed I love doing a double spritz as it gives my skin that lovely visible hydration boost and it's a great pick me up mist.

2. Simple Soothing Facial Toner - The Simple Soothing Toner is one of those classic toners which is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin because it has no artificial perfumes, colours or harsh chemicals in it and it's 100% alcohol-free. I personally love using this one after I've used lots of Glycolic, Retinol or peeling products because it just balances everything out after and it's wonderfully refreshing on the skin too. This retails for £3.49 for 200ml, however, I have to give a shoutout to Poundland who currently have it in stock for only £2!

3. Botanics 100% Organic with Rosewater Toning Spritz - Rose skincare has become a firm favourite of mine and I have two beautiful rose recommendations to share with you guys including another classic the Botanics Rosewater Spritz which is a Boots own brand. This decadent toner is perfect for all skin types and despite it being the most expensive of the bunch at £7.99 for a 150ml it's great for balancing out the skin and spritzing onto overheated skin in the Summer months.

4. Wideeye Facial Balancing Toner in RoseMy second Rose pick is from a brand I came across recently. Wideeye are a natural skin and body care company selling an extensive collection of products for all skin types and concerns. This rose toner has become a firm favourite within my collection as it's wonderful for calming the skin, reducing redness as well as being particularly great if you have dry skin. I actually love using this toner not only after cleansing but for spritzing onto my face as a primer before makeup and for setting my makeup after. It's just a really nice way to add a boost of hydration before I pop on my foundation so it sits on the skin a bit better. You can purchase this on their website here for £6.95 for a 150ml and free delivery.

5. B Essence Lotion - Now this last one is technically not a toner, it's actually an essence (if your unsure on what an Essence is then I actually will have a video dedicated to Essence's coming soon here). For me, an essence and a toner kind of do the same thing in the fact that they hydrate the skin the only difference being the toner is for balancing the PH and the essence is a more hydrating step within your skincare routine. The B Refreshed Essence Lotion is actually the only drugstore Essence I've ever come across in the UK that's affordable too and this one is specifically good for dry and sensitive skin as it is very soothing and hydrating. Be sure to watch my video I linked above where I demonstrate how I like to use this within my routine, but I do love this one especially as it does have Hyaluronic Acid in it. This retails for £6.99 from Superdrug for 140ml.

Primark Cleansing Brush Review - Clarisonic Dupe?!

Primark Cleansing Brush
You guys know how much I love finding a good dupe and I actually couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted this new cleansing brush from Primark recently. Initially, I thought this looked remarkably similar to the cult Clarisonic Mia 2 Cleansing Brush* that retails for a whopping £125! Now while I can't compare this fully to the Mia 2 as I'm yet to try this, I can compare it to me beloved Lidl Silvercrest Cleansing Brush.

So here's everything you need to know about the Primark Beauty Expert Cleansing Brush...
Price
The brush retails for an affordable £15 and is battery operated (batteries are not included). Additionally, you can also buy different brush heads at £3.50 each and a Foaming Cleanser that works with the brush for £2. (Watch my video above for snippets of all of the different brush heads and cleanser)

Brush heads and cleanser available for the Beauty Expert Cleansing Brush:
PRIMARK CLEANSING BRUSH HEAD £3.50
PRIMARK DEEP CLEANSING BRUSH HEAD £3.50
PRIMARK GENTLE CLEANSING BRUSH HEAD £3.50
PRIMARK FOAMING FACIAL CLEANSER £2

Comparison wise my Lidl Silvercrest Cleansing Brush was £25 when I received it as a gift at Christmas last year. This brush is still a steal but it is currently unavailable at this present moment.
Packaging
The brush comes in an informative box that shares with you everything you need to know about the Beauty Expert Cleansing Brush.
Inside the brush comes with one cleansing brush head (attached), a handy stand and an Instruction Manual. As I mentioned above the batteries are not included and so you will need 2x AA Batteries. Both the Clarisonic and the Lidl Brush are charger operated.
Application
Now if your unfamiliar with what a cleansing brush can do for your skin then the whole point of the brush is too deep clean and exfoliate the skin, as well as aiding in removing makeup and dirt. It is not recommended you use this every day if you have sensitive skin because it is so intense, but as a guide, I tend to use mine more in the evening around 3 times a week.
The Primark Foaming Facial Cleanser that is sold as an add-on to the Cleansing Brush for me didn't look very appealing and skin friendly, so I decided to just use my Sister & Co Cleansing Oil* instead. I think personally there's no need to buy this cleanser aswell if what you already use to take your makeup off is working well for you already.
The brush has two speeds and even though this is battery operated, surprisingly the higher speed is quite powerful. With regards to the brush itself, this comes with the normal cleansing brush head which works well at deep cleansing my face. However, I would say this does feel a little rougher compared to just using a normal flannel or muslin cloth to cleanse with and so if you do have sensitive skin, I would recommend additionally purchasing the Gentle Cleansing Brush Head and sticking to the first speed on the device.
When I tested this out I decided to do one side with the Primark brush and one side with the Lidl brush, I also dipped both in a little water before using them. So here's how they compare...

My Lidl Brush works with Sonic technology and has four settings. The Primark brush spins round at two speeds. The brush on the Primark version is slightly smaller and the bristles are longer and softer, whereas the Lidl one has a larger flatter brush. Both work well to deep cleanse the skin but I would say the Primark one is slightly harsher on the skin and overall does a better job at deep cleansing. However, the Lidl one is definitely easier to work with as it doesn't spin round.

Afterwards, I actually went in with a muslin cloth to see how much makeup each brush had removed and I would say they were both the same, I still had a bit of makeup that came off on the cloth on each side but not loads. I usually do a double cleanse and that is what I would recommend to you also just to ensure the face is completely clean and makeup free.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Overall I have to say I do like my Lidl brush that bit better as it's easier to control because it uses the sonic technology. I also like the fact you can charge it without the worry of replacing the batteries each time. Nevertheless, both are AMAZING at deep cleansing and exfoliating the skin and I couldn't recommend them enough if you're a girl on a budget!

I award the Primark Beauty Expert Cleansing Brush a 4.8 out of 5

Stay tuned for my next review which will be on the Primark Micellar Cleansing Pads. Alternatively, you can watch my full First Impression here.

5 Superdrug Skincare Products Worth Buying

Superdrug Skin Care
Superdrug's own brand skin care is one of those really underrated and not talked about enough brands. Did you know Superdrug actually has many own brand lines within their skincare aisle's as well as all of the well-known drugstore brands they stock within their stores and online.
Their own brand skincare lines include...
- Naturally Radiant
- Tea Tree
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin E
- BB
- Optimum
- Simply Pure
- B. (Not by Superdrug but sold in Superdrug Stores Exclusively)

Today I wanted to share with you five of Superdrug's own brand skincare products that I truly adore and have re-purchased time and time again, including one new discovery that I had to share with you guys also!
1. Naturally Radiant Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser £5.99
This is another wonderful Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish dupe and a bargain if you're on a budget, it's also even more of a steal if you can get it on offer! And when I can't get my hands on the Aldi Hot Cloth Cleanser then this is my go-to instead.

This cream cleanser not only cleanses the face but it removes makeup and comes with a muslin cloth too. What more can I say other then this 100ml cleanser is a drugstore cleansing dream!

2. Vitamin E Hydrating Mist £2.99
I'm obsessed with this mist, plain and simple! I use it day and night as a hydrating toner step within my routine. At night I even do two or three mists of the face with this because it is so hydrating, in-offensive and wonderful value for money.

3. B Refreshed Essence Lotion £6.99
This is actually a new step I've incorporated into my routine and B is one of the very few brands within the drugstore market that does an Essence. (Side note: I'm not entirely sure B are an own brand of Superdrug's but they are exclusive to Superdrug).

Now, what is an Essence I hear you say!? It actually originates from Korea and is essentially like a watered down serum which hydrates and replenishes the skin, very much like a toner actually consistency wise. I love this B version as it really does give me that added boost of hydration.

I use this after I've cleansed and done my glycolic step and before I've toned in the evening.

4. Optimum Instant Anti-Wrinkle Swiss Ice Wine Eye Cream £12.99
This has been a firm favourite of mine since last year. The Optimum range is a little more expensive than some of the other Superdrug own brands, but they really do have some fantastic products within this collection including the Swiss Ice Wine Eye Cream.

I love this because first of all, it has this metal applicator to apply the eye cream which makes it really cooling to apply around the eye area and second of all this is a wonderfully delicate and moisturising eye cream that doesn't irritate my eye area at all.

5. Optimum Glycolic Overnight Peel £12.99 - In Superdrug Stores
Finally this Glycolic Overnight Peel has a slightly different take on the conventional Glycolic Pads/Toners you're probably familiar with. This is actually a great one if you like the sound of a Glycolic product but you're not keen on the toner or pads forms and you want something that's not as harsh.

I like this because it is has a lightweight gel texture that sinks into the skin straight away. I also love using this in replace of my moisturisers and serums at night when I'm short for time but I want something that's going to help my skin feel glowy and refined when I wake up the next day.

The Naturally Radiant Collection also does a Glycolic Overnight Peel which I've linked here.

7 Drugstore Sheet Masks All Under £5 Tested and Reviewed

Best Drugstore Sheet Mask UK
This year there has been an explosion of Drugstore Sheet Masks coming to the market from Poundland to Primark, Simple to Aldi. So today in the 3rd post from my #drugstoreskincareweek series I'm sharing with you 7 New Drugstore Sheet Masks that are all under £5!
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sheet Mask Review
1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrogel Recovery Mask £3.50
The Hydrogel Recovery Mask is a two-piece gel mask which you leave on for 15-30 minutes. It claims to be an intensely hydrating and cooling mask that is infused with Hyaluronic Acid.

This was actually really easy to apply because it came in two parts and while on the face it felt comfortable, cooling and hydrating. Afterwards, my skin felt smooth and refreshed, however, I didn't feel this was an overly hydrating mask as per the claims. I left this on for 15 minutes but I think I would probably try this one again and leave it on for the maximum 30 minute time limit to see if it was any more hydrating. Nevertheless, this is an affordable and convenient pick me up mask.

Garnier SkinActive Charcoal Sheet Mask Review
2. Garnier SkinActive Pure Charcoal Black Tissue Mask £2.99*
This Black Charcoal mask is well saturated and infused with ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Black Algae Extract and LHA. The SkinActive Mask is supposed to be pore-tightening, purifying and hydrating and to me, it certainly felt hydrating and refreshing while it was working its magic. I left this on for the required 15 minutes and afterwards my skin felt slightly taught, glowy and hydrated. I much preferred this to the Blue Garnier Moisture Bomb version I reviewed last year and I have to say this was one out of three favourites.

Primark Holler and Glow Sheet Mask Review
3. Primark Holler and Glow Holler Back £3
If you've seen this fun brand at Primark then you'll know there are endless interesting looking sheet masks to choose from to target different concerns. This gold holographic mask is aimed to hydrate the skin and I have to say this was my favourite visually, however, I did feel this felt the most papery compared to the others I tested. Nevertheless, this was still very saturated and it smelt pleasant too. On the skin I found this to be hydrating and refreshing and although I did have a bit of trouble with it sticking to my lip and chin area, overall this definitely made my skin feel and look hydrated.

Aldi Sheet Mask Review
4. Aldi Lacura Moisture Complex Sheet Mask with Green Tea Extract £1.99 for 2
The new Lacura Moisture Complex Masks come in 3 different scents including Green Tea Extract, Chamomile and Pomegranate and the best part is you get two for £1.99! The Green Tea Mask includes Hyaluronic Acid and Moisturising Serum and aims to intensely moisturise and refresh the skin as well as help it feel balanced and pure.

Again this is a well-saturated sheet mask that you leave on for 15 minutes. Initially I found this a little harder to apply as there were no slits to help it fit your face snugly and I have to say this did smell a bit odd too, but afterwards, my skin felt balanced, hydrated and moisturised which is always a bonus.

Poundland Sheet Mask Review
5. Poundland Derma V10 Hydrating Vitamin E Woven Face Mask £1
Poundland do sheet masks I hear you say! Oh yes and spoiler alert this was one of my favourites! The Derma V10 Mask is a hydrating Vitamin E Mask infused with Aloe Vera that claims to hydrate, moisturise and improves the skin's texture.

Upon application the mask is well saturated and super soft to the touch, it's also lightly scented. I left this on for 15 minutes but you can leave it on for up to 20 minutes. On the skin, it felt beautifully refreshing and hydrating and after I had removed the mask my skin felt so smooth and moisturised.

Simple Rich Moistue Sheet Mask
6. Simple Rich Moisture Sheet Mask £2.99
This kind to skin mask has no harsh chemicals, artificial perfumes or colour and helps condition dry and dehydrated skin. When applying the mask I do advise taking extra care as it is very delicate to the touch and can stretch a little because it is so thin. However, this mask is divinely soft to the touch, refreshing and felt just like a second skin! I left this on for the required time of 15 minutes and afterwards my skin felt nourished, soft and smooth and this was definitely another one of my firm favourites!

Masque Bar Rose Gold Sheet Mask Review
7. Masque Bar Rose Gold Foil Sheet Mask £4.98*
The most expensive of the bunch this foil sheet mask claims to nourish and hydrate the skin and contains Witch Hazel Water, Soy Bean Extract and Mushroom Extract.

I did love the fact this was Rose Gold, however, this was quite a rigid mask to apply and consequently, I found it hard to shape around the face. The mask was drenched in a very watery liquid and smelt a bit chemically which I think was due to the Witch Hazel, but while on the face it did feel hydrating despite it not sticking to my chin! I left this on for the maximum time of 20 minutes and I have to say my skin did feel and look smooth refined and glowy afterwards.

ALDI Skincare Pamper Routine + Testing Primark KPOP Skincare

Aldi Lacura Skin Care
Let's talk about Aldi Skin Care, I discovered Aldi's Lacura line properly at the start of the year and I've been hooked ever since! So today in this second #drugstoreskincareweek post, I wanted to share with you my Pamper Night Time Routine using skincare products all from the Lacura brand. I'll also be testing out two products from Primark's K Pop Collection which I shared with you in my Primark Beauty Haul Video here.
PRODUCTS MENTIONED:
1. ALDI LACURA CAVIAR FACIAL CLEANSING WIPES - First off I removed the majority of my eye makeup with the Aldi Caviar Wipes, then I went in with my favourite Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser over the eyes just to make sure I had got rid of everything properly. I then gently wiped away the cleanser with a warm flannel.
Aldi Caviar Facial Wipes

2. ALDI LACURA MUD TO FOAM CLEANSER - Next I used the Charcoal Mud to Foam Cleanser that I did a First Impression on a few months back here. I adore using this to remove my face makeup as it's wonderful at really deep cleaning the skin.
Aldi Mud to Foam Cleanser

3. ALDI LACURA HOT CLOTH CLEANSER - Once I've rinsed off the Charcoal Cleanser I then go back in with the Hot Cloth Cleaner all over my face. You can just use your fingers to massage the product in for a few minutes but if you've seen my recent Morning and Evening Skincare Routine here then you'll know I love using the Lidl Silvercrest Cleansing Brush as it really does help my skin feel super clean and smooth.
Aldi Hot Cloth Cleanser
4. ALDI LACURA CHARCOAL CLEARING MUDMASK - When I'm having a pamper night I love to do a clay mask, I used the Lacura Charcoal Mudmask which was also in my First Impressions Video that I've linked above. To apply this I used one of the Primark Mask Brushes which came in a set with a spatula, this is such a wonderfully affordable and hygienic set if you're not a fan of dipping your hands into pots. Speaking of Primark I also decided to try out the KPop Cooling Gerbera Eye Pads too, I kept the eye pads in the fridge beforehand so they were nice and cool when I went to use them.

UPDATE: I've been through several packs of these Eye Pads since I used them in this video and I'm obsessed! I've been using them every morning when I wake up while I meditate to de-puff and awaken my eyes. The pads are actually soaked in this beautiful serum that really hydrates and brightens the eye area and the best part is their only £1.50 for 3 sets!

Aldi Glamglow Dupe
5. PRIMARK KPOP DREAMY LIPS SCRUB AND MASK - After 10 minutes I washed off the mask and I decided I would test out the Primark KPOP Lip Treatment also. This is a Two-Step treatment. Step One is the exfoliating part which I used before I went in with all my other skincare products.

6. ALDI LACURA DAILY CLEANSING PADS - Next I ran one of the Lacura Glycolic Pads all over my face and neck, I've mentioned this before but these are a great dupe for the Nip & Fab ones.

7. ALDI LACURA MIDNIGHT POWER EYE CREAM - After this, I applied the Lacura Midnight Power Eye Cream all around the eye area.

8. ALDI LACURA GREEN TEA SHEET MASK - I then went in with one of Aldi's newest products the Lacura Green Tea Sheet Mask. There are actually 3 different scents to choose from and all of them come in a duo pack. I left the mask on for 15 minutes and afterwards, I massaged the remaining serum from the mask into my face and neck.
Aldi Sheet Masks
9. ALDI LACURA CAVIAR NIGHT CREAM - Once the serum had sunk into the skin I wanted to add an additional cream on top to sandwich in the moisture. I decided to use the Caviar Night Cream which I have a review on coming up on the blog next week.
Aldi Caviar Day and Night Cream
10. ALDI LACURA MIRACLE CREAM - Finally to finish I applied the Step 2 Part Lip Mask from the Primark K POP Sachet onto my lips and then I added a little of the Lacura Miracle Cream to a few blemishes I had.

Aldi Charcoal Clearing Mudmask and Charcoal Mud To Foam Cleanser Review - The New Glamglow Dupes?!

Aldi Charcoal Mask and Aldi Charcoal Cleanser
Over the past couple of months, I've been testing out a ton of supermarket skincare from Aldi and today I wanted to share with you some of Aldi's newest releases, the Aldi Lacura Charcoal Skincare Collection. The collection consists of a Cleanser, Wipes, Micellar Water and Mask. I have two of the four items to share with you and I think you'll agree these look very similar to a certain high-end brand! So here are my thoughts...
Price
As I mentioned the Aldi Charcoal Collection consists of fours skincare items including,
- Aldi Lacura Charcoal Mud to Foam Cleaner £5.99 150ml
- Aldi Lacura Charcoal Clearing Mudmadk £5.99 50ml
- Aldi Lacura Charcoal Micellar Water £1.99 200ml
- Aldi Lacura Charcoal Facial Wipes £1.29 25pk
I picked up the Mud to Foam Cleanser and Mud mask to test out.
Packaging
I think I'm in the majority vote when I say that the packaging for this collection looks very similar to the cult brand Glamglow. And what's even more exciting is that about half ingredients are the same!(I'll explain in more detail down below).
The Aldi Mud to Foam Cleanser is very comparable to the Glamglow Supercleanse Cream to Foam Cleanser that retails for £24 for 150ml also. The only difference being the original Glamglow version comes in a tube and the Aldi Cleanser has a hygienic pump applicator for ease of use.
Ingredients wise I have listed all the ingredients that are exactly the same below,
- Aqua
- Magnesium Aluminum Silicate
- Glyceryl Stearate
- Glycerin
- Charcoal Powder
- Kaolin
- Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf
- Ethylhexylglycerin
- Sodium Chloride
- Xanthan Gum
- Lactic Acid
- Glycolic Acid
- Parfum
- Phenoxyethanol
The Aldi Charcoal Mud Mask is a worthy dupe for the Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment. The original Glamglow version comes in a white hexagon shaped box but the similarities are clear to see as half the ingredients are indeed the same...
- Aqua
- Kaolin
- Magnesium Aluminum Silicate,
- Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf
- Lactic Acid
- Glycolic Acid
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice
- Sodium Hydroxide
- Ethylhexylglycerin
- Xanthan Gum
- Parfum
- Limonene
- Linalool
- Phenoxyethanol
- Potassium Sorbate
- Sodium Benzoate
- CI 77499
Just like the Supermud, the Charcoal Mudmask comes in the conventional glass jar, but I actually like using this with a flat foundation brush for a more precise and hygienic application.
Application
Charcoal Mud to Foam Cleanser
WHAT DOES IT DO? - The Mud to Foam Charcoal Cleanser is designed to not only remove makeup but to help exfoliate, mattify and improve the overall skins texture. This is also power packed with some fantastic ingredients including Eucalyptus Oil, Glycolic and Lactic Acid as well as Clay and Coconut Extract.

HOW TO APPLY - Now, although this can remove makeup I really wasn't keen on using the cleanser around my eye area so I first went in with a micellar water to remove my eye makeup and then I used one pump of the cleanser for the rest of the face.

This to me is actually like using a more watered down charcoal face mask, it feels gritty to the touch (but not harsh you can just feel that it has a bit of texture) and it has a fairly thick consistency. You can also smell the freshness of the Eucalyptus oil coming through as you wipe the cleanser over your face. To finish all you need to do is wet your fingers to really massage the product in and then rinse well with a damp flannel or cloth.

One pump is adequate if your using this to cleanse with and one and a half pumps is a sufficient amount if you're using this to take your makeup off. It's also recommended you wear an SPF when using these products but you guys know that I consider an SPF a vital part of my skincare routine anyway.

OVERALL RESULTS -
Afterwards, my skin felt super clean and almost like it had stripped off every ounce of product I had on my skin, thus it felt slightly drying and tight at the same time.

I actually prefer this in the evening as a one-step cleanser if I don't want to faff around with cream and oil cleansers, but overall it does a great job at removing anything from your face quickly and I have personally become obsessed with how clean it's made my face feel.
Charcoal Clearing Mud Mask
WHAT DOES IT DO? - The Mudmask aims to balance out problem skin and help improve not only the skins texture but reduce imperfections if used on a regular basis, but it's worth noting both of these products are not suitable for sensitive skin.

Just like the cleanser, the mask is full of the same terrific ingredients that draw out impurities and make the skin feel clean and fresh overall.

HOW TO APPLY - Again this has that lovely refreshing Eucalyptus smell and a slightly gritty consistency. As I mentioned above I used this with a brush to get a more precise application, as a little does go along way.

It is recommended you leave this on for 5-10 mins, I left this on for 10 mins and I have to say it dried down pretty quickly and felt tight on the skin. To me this actually felt like you could feel the product working away, it wasn't tingly but you could definitely feel the mask on the skin.

OVERALL RESULTS - Afterwards, my skin looked mattified and felt smooth, but just like the cleanser, my skin felt taut and dry because of the potent ingredients within the mask nevertheless, after using this for two months I'm happy to report my skin feels clean, clear and balanced.
Overall Thoughts
Charcoal Mud to Foam Cleanser - I'm such a big fan of this as not only is it ridiculously affordable compared to the Glamglow Cleanser, but it does exactly what it says on the packaging. It removes makeup like a dream, exfoliates the skin and overall makes the skin feel smooth, clean and refined. So if you're after a no-nonsense, no fuss cleanser that's nourishing and power-packed full of skin clearing ingredients, then this may be the cleanser for you.

I award the Aldi Lacura Charcoal Mud to Foa Cleanser a 4.8 out of 5.

Charcoal Clearing Mud Mask - Again this is a fantastic skin clearing clay mask full of potent ingredients to help reduce imperfections, detox the skin and draw out impurities. And if you're looking for a pretty incredible and affordable dupe for the Glamglow Supermud, then this is the one for you!

I award the Aldi Lacura Charcoal Clearing Mud Mask a 4.8 out of 5

The Charcoal Spa Collection was a limited edition collection but I have seen this still available in some Aldi's and I am hoping they may bring this back in the future as I have seen other products come back once in a while. So if you like the sound of these and you do find them I would snap them up right away!
