Although it makes me sad when I finish a product I've truly liked, it also gives me satisfaction knowing that I've finally got to the bottom and I can decide whether I would re-purchase that particular product again or not. So here's my round up from the last few months of what's hot and what's not!
PRODUCTS MENTIONED: 1. Soap & Glory Clean On Me Shower Gel Beauty Talk Podcast - Episode 9
Ever since I decided to go back to blonde or should I say ombre, I've defiantly had to step up my haircare routine. As you probably already know, if you're constantly exposing your hair to bleach, it can play havoc with the overall condition of it. Now don't get me wrong I do love my blonde, but it can be incredibly high maintenance to constantly keep it looking in great shape, as well as preventing it from turning too brassy. Regardless of all of this, I wanted to share with you what I have introduced into my haircare routine to make sure it stays in tip top condition in the hope it may help some of you out if your deciding to go ombre or blonde.
Pre-Colour Deep Conditioner
Everytime I refresh my colour, a couple of days before hand I like to deep condition my hair with the Philip Kingsley Elasticzer so that it's in the best condition in preparation for the colour. I also use this once a month too.
Colour - Ombre and Roots
Next up is colour. For the ombre I achieved this initially by using the Bleach London DIY Dip Dye Kit, this is super easy to use and it also comes with a blending lotion to help fade the light into the dark without it looking harsh. I also had the ombre done professionally a couple of times to achieve my desired shade. I also use the Bleach White Toner Kit to balance out the brassy tones in my hair.
Hair Products and Styling
Lastly onto hair products and styling. I tend to only blow dry my hair occasionally but when I do I love using the Philip Kingsley Maximizer it's great at adding a ton of volume to your hair. Whether I blow or air dry my hair I always use the L'Oreal Mythic Oil before hand on the ends to help replenish the moisture back into my dry/colour treated hair.
When I do blow dry my hair I use my trusty Lee Stafford Nourishing Argan Oil Hair Dryer and Philip Kingsley Grooming Brush. I've had the Philip Kingsley brush for years now and I absolutely love this as it has holes in it so your hair can breathe while blow drying. My holy grail straighteners have to be the GHD Straighteners, these do the trick every time for me.
To finish off I like to smooth my hair down with a tiny bit of the Tigi Bed Head After Party and again with the L'Oreal Mythic Oil onto the ends. Inbetween washes I use the Colab Dry Shampoo, to help keep the grease at bay!
Taking care of your hair is just as important as looking after your skin, especially if you have long hair, so I thought I would share you with you my step by step routine of everything I use on my hair to keep it looking long, shiny and healthy.
If you have long, damaged or coloured hair a deep conditioner can be essential to help moisturise & restore the hair. I have long, coloured hair also so I like to do an intense hair mask once a week to ensure my ends stay hydrated, shiny and healthy. I thought I would share you with you my top 3 deep conditioners that work for me.
From Left to Right, Macadamia Deep Repair Mask, Philip Kingsley Elasticizer and Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment
Macadamia Deep Repair Mask
This mask is truly amazing, I recently discovered this and now I can't be without it, it smells divine for a start and has a thick luxurious gooey texture to it. I like to concentrate this on the ends and then I use a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute the product through my hair while I'm in the shower, leave it for 7 Minutes then you wash it off. I like to compliment this by using the Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo. My hair after feels amazing like silk it really does the condition the hair amazingly!
This is a cult favourite of mine, such an iconic product and was originally made for Audrey Hepburn!
This product is amazing you only have to see all the reviews for yourself, it is a little pricey but I think totally worth the money when you can see what it does to dry, damaged or brittle hair. It makes my hair feel soft and hydrated and you can see the results the more you use.
You apply this to damp hair before you wash it, then you put on the plastic cap that comes with it to help penetrate the ingredients into the hair. It says to leave for 10-20 Min's but I often leave it on a lot longer to get the most from this genius product.
I love this product for it's entirely natural contents, it helps restore my hair if I want an all over intense hair treatment. The story of this beautiful product is really inspiring as it comes from deep within the remote rainforest in Central America and founded by Denis Simioni a guy who just stumbled upon it! I admit the smell is not so great, it does remind me of smoke but this is an entirely natural product and I know they do sell a not so strong smelling version of this product.
When applying you use the comb provided to scoop out half a teaspoon into your hand, I do find I need more than half a teaspoon to evenly distribute this throughout my hair. The texture feels like putty but with the warmth of your hand it liquefies into an oil that is easy to apply to the hair. You apply to dry hair before shampooing and I tend to wrap my hair in a bun and let the goodness sink in for around 20 Min's or longer if you have more time. You then carry on with your normal hair routine shampoo/condition to reveal restored conditioned hair.
