MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer

 

Over the past few months Liquid Lipstick formulas have been popping up everywhere, thanks to brands like Too Faced and Anastasia Beverley Hills. As always it takes a while to filter through to the drugstore, but just recently I have been spotting lots of affordable drugstore versions appearing.

I recently discovered the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers, which are very reminiscent of the Anastasia Liquid Lipsticks. MUA is a drugstore brand sold in Superdrug and online, they stock on trend, affordable make-up and nail polish, so here's my thoughts.

 

Price

These retail for £3 each for 6ml and come in 8 colours. These are phenomenal value considering the formula and packaging.

Packaging

Each lip lacquer comes boxed with the name and information about the product on the back. The Lip lacquer itself is beautifully packaged in a simple frosted tube, that looks expensive and chic. The packaging was the reason these originally caught my eye!

Application
These are super pigmented and apply really nicely, especially the darker colours. Some of the lighter colours do need a second coat to distribute the colour evenly. Each colour dry's pretty quickly to a stunning matte finish.

Longevity

These wear incredibly well throughout the day, with no transfer. The colour stays true, but does fade a little after eating, so a second coat is needed if you want to intensify the colour more. Because of the matte formula, these lip lacquers are drying on the lips and the lighter shades can show up any lines you may have on your lips, but overall the staying power is really impressive, considering the price.

Overall Thoughts
Overall I was really impressed by how amazing these velvet lip lacquers where, considering the affordability factor and impressive colour selection. The packaging, formula and longevity are amazing and with liquid lipsticks currently trending, it's great to see a drugstore brand produce a superb, affordable version, that doesn't break the bank.
