Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick Swatches and Review

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick
French drugstore brand Bourjois have just dropped possibly their most exciting lip launch to date in the form of the Rouge Velvet The Lipstick*. This mouth-watering collection consists of 12 matte lipsticks that claim to be intense and long-wearing, so here are my thoughts...
Price
These retail for £8.99 for 2.4g of product. As I mentioned above there are 12 shades to choose from including...
01 Hey Nude!
02 Flaming'rose
03 Hyppink chic
04 Hip Hip Pink
05 Brique-à-brac
06 Abrico'dabra!
07 Joli carmin'ois
08 Rubi's cute
09 Fuchsia botté
10 Magni-fig
11 Berry formidable
12 Brunette
Packaging
I adore the packaging for these as it's vibrant, eye-catching and sleek.
Inside, the actual lipstick has this unique almost tear drop shaped bullet, which is designed for a more easier application.
Application
Upon application, these glided on like a dream! First of all the unique shaped bullet made them so easy to apply and secondly, these were so richly pigmented that one swipe is all you really need.

The lipstick does dry down pretty quickly to a velvety matte consistency, which doesn't look drying at all.
Longevity
I found these so comfortable to wear and not drying at all. I tested out Hyppink Chic and Brunette for longevity and both stayed on the lips for a good 8 hours. I did get the tiniest bit of transfer but nothing major considering how pigmented these are. For the brighter colours, I would advise popping them in your bag as the colour can fade slightly through wear and tear.

Overall Thoughts
Having never tried much from Bourjois lip range before, I was suitably impressed by not only the quality of these lipsticks but the pigmentation, colour selection and wearability. Yes, they are a tad more expensive than your regular drugstore lipstick, but hey I think the price is completely justified because of the many qualities these lipsticks house.

The shape of the lipstick bullet is rather unique but perfectly formed to aid in the ease of application and the overall feel of these lipstick considering the formula is matte is so comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I also love the fact that all 12 of the colours are totally wearable and suited to anyone and everyone.

So if you're after a more premium drugstore, semi-matte lipstick that's long-wearing, pigmented and enjoyable to wear, then I would for sure recommend checking this collection out.

I award the Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick a 4.9 out of 5

Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick Review & Photos

Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick
Just lately Rimmel have been on top of their game with regards to exciting new product launches including the latest Only 1 Matte Lipstick Collection which accompanies their already popular original Only 1 line. So of course I had to review these as I'm already a big fan of the original collection, so here's my thoughts.

I have also reviewed two other new Rimmel products in one of my One Brand First Impression videos which I have linked down below, so keep your eyes peeled for separate reviews on the two other new launches.
Price
As per the original Only 1 Lipsticks these retail for £6.99 for 3.4g of product. The matte collection consists of nine wearable shades including a selection of nudes, deep berry's, corals and pinks.
Packaging
I totally adore the beautiful matte red packaging and I think I actually prefer this to the original black casing as this stands out a little more. I also love the fact each lipstick has a coloured band on the outside so you can see which shade is which if you have more than one. The actual lipstick has a slanted tip, which helps make the lipstick glide on with ease.
Application
Just like the originals, these are creamy, pigmented, moisturising and glide on like butter. I picked up one of the neutral shades in Trendsetter, which is a perfect medium nude shade for Winter. With regards to the finish, I would say these are more of a semi-matte finish, but I prefer this as sometimes a matte lipstick or liquid lipstick can look drying, powdery and make you look like you have crinkly lips! My only criticism with these lipsticks is the smell. The scent is quite strong and can be over-powering at times, but thankfully it doesn't linger for long.
Longevity
Unfortunately like most lipstick's this doesn't last past eating, so I do recommend re-applying after eating and taking this with you if your on the go.
Overall Thoughts
I really loved this lipstick just like the original as the formula is creamy, pigmented, glides on beautifully and comes in a wonderful selection of shades to suit everyone. The packaging is gorgeous and I think the price point justifies this collection perfectly because of the consistency and excellent colour pay off. Longevity wise this wasn't the best and the smell is quite overpowering and won't be to everyone's liking which is a shame, but if you can get past this and you're a lover of a matte lipstick that's moisturising and pigmented, then I would defiantly recommend checking these out.

I award the Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick 4.6 out of 5

Maybelline Loaded Bolds and Creamy Mattes Review & Photos

Maybelline Loaded Bolds Matte Lipsticks
A few months back Maybelline launched an exciting new collection of striking lipstick shades to add to their Color Sensational range in the US. Here in the UK Maybelline finally released a more condensed collection consisting of seven new creamy matte shades, so here's my thoughts.
Price
These retail for £6.99 and are available from Boots and Superdrug.
Packaging
As I mentioned above, we have a slightly condensed range of new shades here in the UK comprising of four with shiny deep blue lids, which are from the Loaded Bolds collection and three with blue/black matte lids that are known as The Creamy Mattes.
883 Orange Danger (Loaded Bolds)
882 Fiery Fuchsia (Loaded Bolds)
886  Berry Bossy (Loaded Bolds)
885 Midnight Merlot (Loaded Bolds)
968 Rich Ruby (The Creamy Mattes)
942 Blushing Pout (The Creamy Mattes)
932 Clay Crush (The Creamy Mattes)
Application
These are stunningly pigmented and glide on like butter! But because of their intense creaminess I would recommend using a lip liner and a lip brush, especially with the more vivid and darker shades.

All of the shades have a lovely semi-matte finish to them which is really nice as they feel moisturising and non-drying on the lips.
Longevity
Because of their creamy texture these lipsticks do transfer, but despite this they do actually stay on the lips throughout the day, just make sure you pop your lipstick in your bag for on the go touch ups as the colour does fade.
Clay Crush
Blushing Pout
Rich Ruby
Midnight Merlot
Berry Bossy
Fiery Fuchsia
Orange Danger
Overall Thoughts
I'm obsessed with this collection as it has the perfect mix of bright's, nudes and dark's, that are both intensely pigmented and gorgeously creamy. The packaging is very simple on the outside with the shades doing all the talking, however the price point is spot on as the quality of these is super impressive for a drugstore lipstick.

It is a shame we only ever get a condensed collection of shades here in the UK, but despite that these are defiantly worth a look at if your after some exciting new shades to add to your Autumn lipstick wardrobe!

I award the Maybelline Loaded Bolds and Creamy Mattes 4.7 out of 5

Seventeen Mega Matte Lipstick Review and Photos

Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks
Matte lips have been an evolving trend for a few years now, but what's especially great to see is a lot of the drugstore brands now stocking their own matte lip line too. Seventeen is one of the latest brands to conquer the matte revolution with their impressive lip line up of 12 matte shades, so here's my thoughts.
Price
These retail for a reasonable £4.49 each and come in, as mentioned above 12 stunning shades including,
1. I Lilac it a Lot
2. Violet Summer
3. Back to the fuchsia
4. Pinking out Loud
5. Coral of the story
6. No corals
7. Orange you Gorgeous
8. Lava you lot
9. Roses are red
10. Rioja your world
11. Looking Buff
12. Nude News
Packaging
I love the packaging for these as they are lightweight, fun, bold and bright! The lipstick bullet also has a slanted tip for precise application too.
Application
These glide on really easily and dry down to a lovely matte finish almost instantly. The brighter, fashion shades are also buildable if your after a more bold, intense lip look. My favourite shades are Nude News, Looking Buff, Roses are Red and I Lilac it a Lot.
Longevity
These don't transfer and they last pretty well throughout the day as they have a slight stain element to them too. I did get a bit of fading in the centre of the lips after eating, so just make sure you've got your lipstick to hand for on the go touch ups.

For me the best thing about these were the fact they felt comfortable, lightweight and they didn't dry my lips out at all. (hurray for that!)
Overall Thoughts
I was super impressed by this collection as firstly the price point is spot on and secondly the impressive 12 shade selection line up is fantastic, as there really is a colour to suit anyone and everyone. The packaging is super fun but chic at the same time, it's also the perfect size to pop in your handbag or clutch as it hardly weighs a thing!

Lastly I love the fact that these are non drying, non chalky, buildable and fun to wear (I even enjoyed rocking the Parma Violet, lilac shade too!) and overall the Mega Mattes are another great addition to the drugstore matte lipstick phenomena.

I award the Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks 4.7 out of 5

*Some of these Lipsticks were kindly gifted to me.
