A MAC Lipstick Love Affair

Last week I did a little bit of MAC shopping for some more nude/taupe lipsticks that had been on my Pinterest wishlist. If you'd seen my previous post on MAC Velvet Teddy, you'll know I've really been into these Autumnal shades and can't get enough of nude and taupe lips lately, so here's what I picked up.

MAC Brave Lipstick

Brave is one of those flattering shades like Angel, that goes perfect with any make-up look. This lipstick comes from the satin family and is a brown taupe shade with a pretty pink undertone.

MAC Twig Lipstick

MAC Twig is another satin formula that is slightly darker than Brave, but still super pretty for Winter time. Twig is a deep brown with again a pink undertone.

MAC Spice Lip Pencil

Lastly I tried to get my hands on the infamous Whirl and Soar with no luck, so I opted for the MAC Spice instead, which goes great with either of these lipsticks, as well as Velvet Teddy too. Spice Lip Pencil is an iconic deep brown/pink shade, which is classic, versatile and wearable.

As you know from my Autumn Make-Up and Nail Edit post, I'm totally feeling the Autumnal shade vibes. Today I thought I would share with you another make-up look I've been loving recently, using some beautiful shades from MAC and Maybelline.

For my eyes I teamed one of my favourite Maybelline Color Tattoo's in On and On Bronze with MAC Coppering. I love Coppering as it really makes a green eye pop.

MAC Eye Kohl in Tarnish

MAC Pigment in Teal

On the lower lash liner I used MAC Eye Kohl in Tarnish and MAC Teal Pigment blended out over the top.

For the lips I used one of my all time favourite MAC lipsticks, Cherish which is another perfect Autumn shade.

Back in the day I used to love a coffee brown lip and used to rock the good old Rimmel Heather and Coffee Shimmer Lipsticks, who remembers those days!? Now I have to say if I was to sport either one of those lip shades nowadays it would be for Halloween only, but a more muted matte brown or taupe is defiantly more trendy and acceptable now thanks to what I can only call as the Kylie Jenner Effect.

Over the past couple of years we've seen the nude matte lip explode onto the scene thanks to the liquid lipstick phenomena and a tiny bit of help from Kylie Jenner's lips. Now almost every brand can offer you a wealth of different taupe lipstick options to flatter any look or skin tone and one of my favourites has to be MAC Velvet Teddy.

For months now I had been trying to pin point this lipstick with no luck, until finally I snapped it up at the airport recently thanks to MAC releasing their Matte Lip collection which includes a delightful selection of taupe shades.

Velvet Teddy is a medium taupe matte shade and looks beautiful paired with a soft matte smokey eye. I used Maybelline Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe on the lid and Tease from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette on top, blended out into the socket and lash line. On the cheeks I used MAC blusher in buff to complete the look.
